In Jay Z's new work highlighting several cultural conversations, he uses a line to express how his infidelity almost had him looking like Eric Benet.
The first track off the new album 4:44, "Kill Jay-Z", Hov raps,
"You almost went Eric Benét/Let the baddest girl in the world get away/I don’t even know what else to say/Nigga, never go Eric Benét"
As a reminder, the smooth R&B crooner was married to goddess Halle Berry in the early 2000s, a union many thought was a match made in heaven but quickly dissolved amid cheating rumors and an admission of Benet's sex addiction.
Benet responded to Jay-Z no later than 3 am:

Never one to be late to the party, Twitter responded almost immediately noticing the peculiar time that Benet responded:

While it seems Jay-Z alluded to several people including Kanye and Future, Benet was actually called out by name. Benet is now married to Manuela Testolini, the ex-wife of the late, great Prince. Still, we can only imagine how Halle must have reacted upon hearing the verse:
