A 14-year-old girl in Canton, Ohio, was allegedly lured out of her home and murdered by a group of boys, family members believe.

According to Cleveland.com, the victim, Sylvia McGhee, snuck out of her home Saturday in the predawn hours of the morning. She was reportedly hanging out with two boys, ages 13 and 14.

Canton police discovered the teen's body in an alleyway around 4 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

The suspects involved in the case were reportedly friends of the victim. Investigators sorted through social media profiles to connect the teen boys to Sylvia. At this time, only the 13-year-old has been charged for lying to police.

“He lied to officers. He gave false information during his interview,” Canton Police Captain Dave Davis told media.

Other evidence regarding the case has been turned over to the Stark County prosecutor, Fox 8 reports.

“At this time, all evidence has been presented to the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, and additional criminal charges are being contemplated by them,” police Lt. Dennis Garren said in a press release.

Family members found it strange the teen was even out at such a time.

“She didn’t even have a chance. … It was like it was a set up to me because she’s never been out at that time,” Sylvia’s grandmother, Sylvia Milina, told the media.

Sylvia's mother, Ashley Milina, set up a GoFundMe campaign following the child's death. A goal of $8,000 was set, and, as of this report, 109 people have donated $3,000.

“My poor baby was murdered in cold blood," the victim's mother wrote. "Her life was taken senselessly and carelessly. She was set up by people she considered her friends. She was only 14 years old. She was lured out of her home by some of her friends into the alley behind her house, and murdered, right behind her own home. That person who murdered her stole a part of me and my family, my heart, my soul, my world, that I will never get back nor can it be replaced."

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident. An investigation is still ongoing.
