The family of a 28-year-old Black man who was killed in Florida says they will not forgive the white man who shot their son.

Michael McGlockton and Monica Moore-Robinson expressed their sentiments before the sentencing of Michael Drejka, who was convicted Thursday for killing Markeis McGlockton and sent to prison for 20 years.

"In the Bible, it says in order to get into heaven, we must forgive those who trespass against us," Michael said according to NBC News. "At this point in my life, I am not there yet. And if it just so happens that the Lord chooses to take me before I come to terms with this, then I will see you in hell where you and I will finish this. Mark my words."

Drejka didn't speak Thursday and didn't show any emotion, NBC News reported.

Markeis was killed by Drejka in a parking dispute last year.

According to NBC News, the incident started after Markeis, his girlfriend and their three children parked in a handicap space at a convenience store in Clearwater.

After going inside the store with his son, Markeis came back outside and saw Drejka confronting his girlfriend about the parking spot.

Surveillance video shows that Markeis shoved Drejka, who then pulled out his gun while he was on the ground to shoot the 28-year-old, although he was walking away.

Speaking to reporters after the sentencing, McGlockton family attorney Michele Rayner-Goolsby said the family felt more at peace after the conviction.

"We're thankful that the jury got it right," Rayner-Goolsby said. "We saw what everybody saw in that video, that a parking lot vigilante with an axe to grind murdered Markeis McGlockton in cold blood."

Rayner-Goolsby added that the family will fight for other families who don't have justice for their loved ones.

Michael McGlockton said his family can rest now.

"Now we can start putting pieces back together and move on," Michael said. "We just want to thank all of you and thank everybody that has been behind us and please continue to support us because this is still not over."
