With Shondaland drama “The Catch” officially canceled, and “Scandal” reportedly on its way out (after next season), ABC has given a series order to a new Shondaland preject titled “For the People” – a legal drama set in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Federal Court, a.k.a. “The Mother Court,” which follows brand new lawyers working on opposite sides — for both the defense and the prosecution — as they handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country, all as their personal lives intersect.

The series is created by Shondaland’s Paul William Davies and is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

Britne Oldford, Rege-Jean Page, Lyndon Smith, Ben Rappaport, Susannah Flood, Wesam Kees, Ben Shenkman, Hope Davis, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and Anna Deavere Smith star in “For the People” which doesn’t have an official premiere date yet (that’ll come over the summer when networks start to unveil their 2017/2018 scheduling).

In the meantime, ABC has released a first-look teaser (emphasis on teaser) at “For the People” below:
