Viral rap duo Flyana Boss dropped their latest track, “B***h Imma Star,” along with an official lyric video Wednesday.
They are also releasing another single on Friday titled “Big One,” after teasing the forthcoming song on Instagram earlier this week.
“‘B***h Imma Star’ is about claiming your own stardom!” Flyana Ross said in an official press release. “There’s been so many times when people told us we ‘weren’t ready’ or ‘couldn’t do something,’ so this is us telling them ‘B***h Imma Star’!”
“B***h Imma Star” is the highly anticipated follow-up single to their viral hit “You Wish,” which debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Viral 100 and even gained worldwide attention from Grammy-winning hip-hop legends Missy Elliott and Timbaland. Since its release, “You Wish” has garnered over 25 million streams on the digital music service.
Their colorful TikTok video for “You Wish” that was posted over the summer received over 10 million views, which helped push the single’s popularity over the edge.
Their music is all about embracing one’s individuality and uplifting others. The duo, Bobbi LaNea and Folayan, met at a music college in Los Angeles, where they immediately hit it off and began collaborating. Their moniker, Flyana Boss, pays homage to the original diva Diana Ross and represents “the Vagina Dynasty” while “embodying the spirit of flyness and bossness.”
Together, Flyana Boss pushes the boundaries of contemporary hip-hop, effortlessly switching between different styles and genres for added depth to their one-of-a-kind sound.
The Flyana Boss rappers are special guests on Janelle Monáe‘s The Age of Pleasure Tour, making stops across the U.S. through mid-October.
They will also perform at Australia’s SXSW Sydney, the first-ever international edition of the famed Austin, Texas, music festival, and the music events will take place Oct. 18-21.
