Rap duo Flyana Boss has been compared to iconic girl groups like the Spice Girls and TLC, thanks to their fun and quirky style. Now, they’re linking up with the legendary Missy Elliott for their viral hit, “You Wish,” which also features rising star Kaliii.

Elliott, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in May, has praised Flyana Boss. Their “style is a breath of fresh air. They are relatable….like some cool girls from around the way—just being themselves!” Elliott tweeted back in July. “That’s the best way to have staying power. They are creating their own lane!”

“Wow!! We’re so excited about the ‘You Wish’ remix! This is our first ever remix. We love Kaliii, we are so happy she was able to be on it. And we still don’t know how we manifested Queen Missy herself to bless us with her iconic vocals!” the duo said in a statement about their new “You Wish” remix, which is streaming now.

“You Wish” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify‘s Viral 100 list and boasts over 30 million streams worldwide, which eventually led to them sharing the stage with Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion at the 2023 Essence Festival.

Both in their late 20s, Flyana Boss comprises Bobbi LaNea and Folayan, who represent Detroit and Dallas, respectively, though they met in Los Angeles.

“She woke up one day, and there’s this poster of Diana Ross in her room,” Folayan said about the inspiration behind their stage name in an interview with Variety. “She said, ‘Flyana Boss!’ She sent it to me — well, she sent me Flyana Boss and Cryana Boss.”

“Because we both cry a lot,” LaNea added. “Yeah. But we decided to go on the fly side.”

Flyana Boss is set to join Janelle Monáe during the artist’s Age of Pleasure Tour on select dates beginning Sept. 13. Do you have your tickets?
