There are just some people you don't mess with.

Pastor, former mayor of Jackson, Mississippi and former kickboxer and taekwondo practitioner Tony Yarber is one of those people.

Yarber subdued a burglar early this week by spanking the would-be thief with an old fraternity paddle, the Associated Press reports.

Yarber caught Juwuan Bibbs, 22, breaking into his truck early on Sunday before church. His wife, looking out the window, noticed two men sitting in a car outside of their home.

Yarber, who has been the victim of an attempted burglary once before, went to check things out.

Once outside, he saw Bibbs attempting to enter his truck.

Without a moment's hesitation, Yarber kicked the truck door. This proved to be a wise move on Yarber's part. Bibbs had a gun, but the impact of the door knocked it out of his hand.

Scared, Bibbs ran into Yarber's garage.

Yarber ran after him, and put Bibbs into a headlock and paddled him with an old fraternity paddle while he waited for police. While his confederate was being beaten, the other man Yarber's wife had seen fled.

Carmen Neal Yarber, Yarber's daughter, caught the tail end of the confrontation on video. In the clip, her father can be heard telling Bibbs, "When you break in people's stuff, it's because somebody ain't whooped your tail!"

Yarber explained his decision to incorporate some corporal punishment into his capture of the would-be burglar.

"If he was going to go to jail for a day and get out, I wanted him to remember why he went," Yarber said.

Police recovered Bibbs' gun when they arrived on scene. The 22-year-old was apprehended and charged with auto burglary and marijuana possession.
