French Montana has been fighting to acquire American citizenship since February 2017.

According to TMZ, the "Unforgettable" artist has at last successfully gained U.S. citizenship after a long and arduous process. He was officially sworn in, taking his naturalization oath of allegiance on Wednesday morning.

Born and raised in Morocco, French immigrated to the United States (the South Bronx, to be exact) at the age of 13. Having been raised in the U.S., and having found fame here, it makes sense that he'd want to cop an American passport.

After everything was settled, French took to Instagram stories and posted his gratitude, along with a selfie.

“Officially a citizen today thank u allah,” he captioned the post.

According to Page Six, the rapper celebrated his new status with a huge party, naturally.
