The five gang members responsible for the heinous death of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz have been sentenced to prison.

One of the men, 25-year-old Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, received the heaviest sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole from Judge Robert Neary.

The youngest of the defendants, Manuel Rivera, 19, received 23 years to life behind bars. Fellow defendants Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago, 25, Jose Muniz, 23, and Elvin Garcia, 25, were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

According to the New York Post, the five men are part of the Trinitarios gang and were convicted in June of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy and second-degree gang assault.

On June 20, 2018, Guzman-Feliz was stabbed to death by the convicted gang members outside of the Cruz and Chiky bodega in the Bronx. The men later admitted they mistook the 15-year-old for someone else, believing he was in a sex tape circulating on social media involving one of the gang members’ sisters.

People on Twitter created the hashtag #JusticeForJunior after the horrific incident.

Prosecutors said surveillance video of the stabbing shows Martinez Estrella delivering what is believed to be the fatal strike into the victim’s neck, ultimately killing him.

During the trial earlier this year, the jury deliberated for only eight hours before handing down the guilty verdicts. The chilling video of Guzman-Feliz's death was played numerous times throughout the five-week trial, according to the New York Daily News

Witnesses also detailed the killers’ plan to kill Guzman-Feliz during the trial, including the instructions given by gang leader Diego Suero.

“They have what they deserve,” Guzman-Feliz’s mother told reporters after the sentencing on Friday. “They killed my son and they have to pay for what they did.”

The New York Post reports that eight other defendants are still awaiting trial.
