Zachery Dereniowski, a former medical student and social media influencer who inspires his followers with touching videos about mental health, according to The Vibely, surprised a great-grandmother with a monetary gift for Mother’s Day.

In a video posted to Instagram, Dereniowski approached an older woman named Zee who works as an Allied security guard. He asked her for a dollar to purchase a card for his mother, adding that he had accidentally left his wallet at home. At first, the woman appeared concerned and then willingly volunteered to give him some money.

“I might just have a dollar … you know these ATMs boy. I have to get in my car,” Zee said.

She returned shortly after and attempted to hand him a dollar and additional change to cover the tax.

But before he accepted her charity, Dereniowski asked her what Mother’s Day meant to her.

“It means a lot to me because I’m a great-grandmother. It’s the one day that everyone feels obligated to me,” she said.

He then tells her that he’s giving her back her money and presented her with $1,000. Overcome with shock, she stepped back in disbelief.

After she regained her composure, Dereniowski asked her to share a message to the world.

“Let’s be nice, let’s understand that we’re all human, we all got problems, and we’re all happy and we’re all sad. But, it gets better,” the great-grandmother said.

Dereniowski also credited Karen Civil for sponsoring the video.

Dereniowski, who has shared his mental health struggles, traded in his medical school aspirations and is now pursuing a major in psychology as he works as a full-time social media influencer, The Vibely reports.
