A 17-year-old high school senior in Washington, D.C. has been admitted to 24 U.S. colleges, including seven Ivy Leagues.

RuQuan “Ru” Brown received offers from Army University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Howard University and Yale University. Sixteen of the offers included full-ride scholarships.

Brown says he plans to major in business and minor in African American studies, according to Because Of Them We Can.

The exemplary student has a 3.9 grade point average at Theodore Roosevelt High School where he is also the student body president.

In 2018, Brown received a 1320 score on the SAT, while the average score was 1068, according to The Princeton Review.

The star student also runs track and plays football as a wide receiver and cornerback. He reportedly runs a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash.

Away from school, Brown owns and operates a clothing company called Love1. He says the company donates 20% of its proceeds to an organization in New Jersey called One Gun Gone. The organization buys guns from New Jersey residents and turns them into art projects, according to Tuko.

The cause is personal to Brown who says in September 2017, his friend and teammate was killed in Washington, D.C. A year later, his stepfather was killed in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“I want people to be inspired to turn their pain into power,” Brown said.

“I wanted to beat gun violence to the punch so that our families don’t have to continuously fall victim to tragic losses,” he said. “We’re eliminating a small fragment of the problem in order to reduce the amount of our loved ones being taken from us.”

Brown credits his parents for his success. While his stepfather took him to his first football practice, he says he was inspired by his biological father who attended Howard and became a dental hygienist.
