The UK-based competition is called Short Cuts to Hell, and it's been launched by UK organizations FrightFest and Movie Mogul, in association with the Horror Channel, and will see one filmmaker win £6,666 (about $10,000) and the opportunity to develop a horror short or feature idea under the mentorship of Movie Mogul.

With a goal being to encourage filmmakers to learn to do more with less, to learn to become resourceful with their creativity in the face of restrictions, filmmakers are asked to submit short films made under certain conditions, including that they should be no longer than 3 minutes, with a maximum of six lines of dialogue, a maximum budget of £666 (about $1,000), and more.

To enter the competition, filmmakers must choose one of six different titles – Sweet 6Teen, 6 Shooter, 6th Sense, 6 Seconds to Die, 6 Degrees of (Limb) Separation or 6 Feet Under.

The competition is open to everyone, from first-time filmmakers to established directors.

The best six films, selected by a jury, will be broadcast on the Horror Channel before Film4 FrightFest 2013, where they will be screened in their own section of the festival, with an overall winner announced following the screening.

Entrants must submit their completed film by 6pm on June 6.
