The helicopter crash which killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others was an eye-opening moment for people around the world. As the news spread across social media on Sunday morning, some used the tragedy as a reminder that life is too short to hold grudges.

Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins was among the aforementioned. The 14-year NBA vet, who was recently caught up in a Twitter beef with NBA superstar Kevin Durant, directed his message of forgiveness to his former teammate.

"Just wanted to tell you I Love you my brother and whatever I did to hurt you I’m sorry bro and hope you forgive me!!!" Perkins wrote to Durant on Twitter. "I love you bro real Talk!"

Perkins took a shot at his former teammate two weeks ago, choosing Russell Westbrook over Durant as the "best player to have ever put on a Oklahoma City Thunder Jersey." 

"In about 30 minutes I’m going to give my opinion on @SportsCenter on why [I] Believe that Russell Westbrook is the best player to have ever put on a Oklahoma City Thunder Jersey!!!" the ESPN analyst said. "He is MR. THUNDER!!!"

The former Thunder center continued to take jabs at Durant after NBA reporter Marc D'Amico tried to make a case for Durant.

"KD lost in the second round without Russ when I was there," Perkins said. "So what that mean?"

Durant then joined the conversation, calling out the center for his performance during the playoffs.

"Yea and our starting center @KendrickPerkins averaged a whopping 2 and 3 during that series," the all-star said. "U played hard tho champ lol."

On Sunday, Perkins said he decided to do what Bryant would do. 

"My new motto with everything is, What Would Kobe do?" Perkins tweeted. "He’d want us to focus more on the loss of his daughter. He’d want us to get past differences with our brothers and move on. He’d never want the game to be cancelled or be stopped. He’d want us to keep going!"

Durant hasn't yet responded publicly to Perkins' message. Meanwhile, several others went to social media to express similar sentiments about living with love and forgiveness.

"Make every day count. Tell your loved ones how much you care about them often," said Allyson Claybourn on Twitter. "Forgive others today. Be kind always. Hug and kiss your babies as much as you can. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed."

NFL analyst Michael Fabiano also shared a message of love on Twitter.

"Kobe Bryant was one of my heroes on the basketball court. I pray for his family and friends during this awful time," he said. "You never know when your time on this earth will come to an end. Hug your loved ones. Be good to each other. Always."

NFL veteran Jovon Johnson continued the theme.

"Hug your family members a lot tighter, tell them you LOVE THEM because tomorrow is not promised!" he said. "Remember the smiles, remember the laughter, the tears, the hurt, the obstacles you over come! I’m at a loss for words."

According to The Los Angeles Times, Sunday's tragic incident happened when a helicopter crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California shortly before 10 a.m. and burst into flames. The passengers were on their way to a basketball game at the Mamba Academy in nearby Thousand Oaks.
