Since the release of Beyoncé’s Lemonadethere has been tons of discussion as to her inspiration behind the album. Is she talking about her marriage? Is she stepping in the shoes of her mother and talking about her father? Ingrid Burley, who is credited as a writer for the track along with Beyoncé has revealed in an interview with Genius, that the lyrics are not about what you think!

The songwriter, who grew up with Bey in Houston, says the lyrics, like “10 times out of nine, I know you’re lying / But nine times out of 10, I know you’re trying,” are inspired about her troubles with Parkwood Entertainment, after they told her Beyonce was not listening to new music to put on the new album when she really was. She says Beyoncé doesn’t even know that this is the real story behind the song.

Burley’s frustration enabled her to write the song in just 30 minutes. “The only way that I could really get over it was like, ‘She’s gonna sing the song I wrote about her label one day,” she said.
