I believe After Earth, the project he's starring in with his father, Will Smith, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, is still very much in the principal photography stage of the production process, but young Jaden Smith is already negotiating his next project.

Mr Smith the son is said to be Sony Pictures' man to star in an adaptation of Allen Zadoff's novel Boy Nobody (which the studio is in talks to acquire the rights to).

Variety suggests that apparently the novel was a hot property, and that Sony beat out 20th Century Fox, although a deal has not yet closed.

So what's Boy Nobody about?

… the first in a planned young adult trilogy about a brainwashed teenage assassin who starts to regain his emotions.

The book's main character is described as "a teenage Jason Bourne… [a] young soldier trained not to feel; who could function in every situation without fear, sympathy or anger; who could assassinate strangers and then walk away emotionally unscathed."

So, young Jaden as an apathetic killing machine. Things that make you go hmm

The novel actually won't be published until next spring, and if all the wheeling and dealing goes as planned, young Jaden might have a franchise on his hands.
