A New York area doctor apologizes after a Medium article connected him to a slew of racist, white supremacist comments.

Dov Bechhofer, who is of Jewish descent, is a resident radiologist at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. A Medium article published early this week (that was later taken down for disclosing private information, a violation of the platform's terms), identified him as a prolific commenter on a white supremacist, neo-Nazi site called, Counter-Currents.

Bechhofer made disparaging comments about minorities, called for a white ethnostate, made statements supporting the 2017 Charlottesville Unite the Right rally and also supported calls for killing immigrants who illegally cross the border. Reports state he has been making comments since 2016.

In many of his posts, he wrote under his first name, "Dov." Out of all his outrageous comments, he went into great detail about how Jewish people could function within a white ethnostate.

The Gothamist reports that he believed Jewish people "need to be considered either non-White or perennially anti-White concerning aspirations of and strategies for the White race moving forward" in a proposal called, "A Jewish Defense of Anti-Semitism."

New York-based Antifa activists made the hospital aware of the Medium article's allegations, which were all proven to be true when Bechhofer came clean to the Associated Press during an interview.

"I am ashamed of the hurtful, unjustifiable words that I posted online that showed callous disregard toward certain minority groups and am deeply sorry for these transgressions," he wrote to the AP in an email. "The posts do not reflect how I was raised or how I actually treat others. I will continue to struggle to understand what brought me to write them."

To add insult to injury, the disgraced doctor's father is a rabbi who has led the group Orthodox Jews Against Racism and Discrimination.

"After spending some time in this toxic corner of the Internet, I eventually became numb to the ugliness of that hateful echo chamber and began participating in the dialogue," he added. "It's been very painful for me overall."

Montefiore Medical Center has placed Bechhofer on off-duty while an investigation into the matter is completed, according to the AP.
