Xscape group member turned businesswoman and reality star Kandi Burruss thinks that they have what it takes to beat Destiny’s Child in a Verzuz battle, but fans aren’t too sure, Vibe reports.
Burruss asserted the bold statement while catching up with Andy Cohen, along with Lil Jon, on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.
Cohen had the industry veterans play a game of “Who Do You Ver-Suspect?” During the game, they were presented with potential Verzuz battles and asked to pick who would win, including a matchup between JAY-Z and Kanye West, Patti LaBelle and Diana Ross, and Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B.
Cohen then asked the guests who would win in a Destiny’s Child vs. Xscape battle.
“Oh, really?! We the OGs,” Burruss said after Cohen posed the question.
Lil Jon agreed, chanting “Xscape” in the background.
While Burruss and Lil Jon were convinced, viewers on Twitter were not. Twitter jumped at Burruss for what they believed was a reach on the singer’s part.
“The amount of hits that Destiny’s child has…. What Xscape gon do….. Put What we need is understanding, Kickin it, and Who can you run to on repeat?????” one user wrote.
One viewer argued that Burruss’ confidence in Xscape’s victory stems from her knowing Beyoncé wouldn’t show up for the battle.
“Its also super easy to say because she knows Beyonce would never show up,” they tweeted.
“You know one thing I love about Kandi is her confidence,” another added. “Her greatest superpower is trying to reach.”
Another simply replied with Burruss’ well-known GIF that shows her screaming, “The Lies! The Lies!”
One member of the Beyhive even threw some shade at Xscape.
“The real question is who is Xscape?????” they wrote with bee and laughing emoji.
While it seemed the majority of viewers disagreed with Burruss, a few thought she had a point.
“Totally agree,” one user said. “DC are amateur singers compared to xscape who have raw talent.”
“She’s right,” another added.
Looks like Verzuz is going to have to get the girl groups on the show to settle it.
