Keke Palmer wants to know why plastic surgeons can’t do more to cure acne. The actress ranted about the issue in a video she posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Plastic surgeons are amazing. They can give you a boob job above the muscle, under the muscle, liposuction, tummy tuck, BBL. They can even implant muscles. The list goes on, but they cannot figure out how to clear somebody’s skin?” Palmer said, expressing her confusion. “You can’t figure out how to take the beautiful skin from my ass and put it on my face? I’m tired of it. People with adult acne are struggling and you ain’t figured that cure?”

Palmer’s rant sparked an extensive dialogue that included some experts and other social media users who wanted to share their own perspectives.

Others, however, shared their irrelevant opinion and unsolicited advice.

But some people just came for Palmer’s humor.

According to People, Palmer has previously opened up about living with a hormone condition known as polycystic ovary syndrome. Speaking on The Tamron Hall Show in 2021, the actress said PCOS was causing her to grow facial hair and it was also the reason why she has been struggling with acne.

“I kind of discovered that that’s what I was dealing with and it answered a lot of the questions to, not only why I had acne, but why I grow hair on my face or under my chin, you know I kind of have a lowkey beard going on that I have to shave every couple of days,” Palmer said on The Tamron Hall Show. “I started to zero in on the fact that, you know, for me to have dealt with acne past puberty in the way that I did, there had to be something deeper going on. And that’s when I came up on PCOS and also things that I needed to change in terms of my diet.”

The 28-year-old also said PCOS is a common condition and that “it’s different for everyone.”

“Even my sister was struggling with it, especially when she was pregnant,” the actress said.

Palmer has also gone to Instagram to post bare-faced selfies on Instagram showing her acne.

“For some of you this may be TMI, but for me my platform has always been used for things much greater than me,” Palmer wrote. “Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome has been attacking me from the inside out my entire life and I had no idea. My acne has been so bad that people in my field offered to pay for me to get it fixed.”

The Nope actress said she tried many different methods, then looked into her family history to figure out the issue.

“My skin has made me sad many nights, but I do not give up on myself. I know this is not me and my body has been looking for help,” she wrote. “I do not have a medical degree but I did the research and took what I learned to a doctor and that led them to a proper diagnosis. I’m not saying trust web md for everything haha but what I am saying is no one can help us like we can help ourselves.”
