Kenyan Lonsdale has already made his debut as Wally West on The Flash last season. But now, it’s official – he’s suiting up. Kid Flash is in the building, and it’s lit fam. This has been the speculation for a while now, but to get the confirmation makes it even better.
The West family is literally the best black family in the superhero genre on TV. Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) are bae goals, Papa West (Jesse L. Martin) always comes through in the clutch with good advice, and now Iris’ brother Wally is hopping off into the hero game.

During the season 3, three-part premiere, Wally West will have his superhero moment. The Flash is loosely following the corresponding DC Comics Flashpoint storyline, which is most likely why we’re getting this character now. Don’t expect to see anyone in the blerd community complaining. By the way, the suit is extra fresh. My boy looks clean. Plus, Kid Flash is black in the New 52, so it makes sense for the television universe as well.
More black and PoC characters are always welcome in the mix. It’s going to be so dope to see how Wally grows as a hero and works with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen throughout the season. If you weren’t already excited for the next season of The Flash, you should be now.
The Flash season 3 will air on The CW starting Tuesday, October 4th at 8 p.m.
