Killer Mike recently joined NRATV for a sit-down interview discussing black gun ownership. Following swift criticism for the sit-down on social media, on Sunday, the "Run the Jewels" rapper posted two videos saying the NRA used his conversation with host Colion Noir as a "weapon" against March for Our Lives organizers.

NRATV tweeted clips of Killer Mike's interview with Noir this past Saturday – the same day as people rallied across the nation for the March for Our Lives protest.

Many on Twitter criticized the Atlanta rapper and activist for speaking on the NRA platform:

During the interview, Killer Mike argued that the mainstream progressive movement doesn't always support issues that impact black communities specifically.

"If you're not in a reciprocal relationship, why are you in this relationship?" he said in part. He later referenced the nationwide school walkouts in support of gun control after saying, "Why are your allies not fighting your other fights with the same vigor you're fighting these?…"

People on Twitter criticized Killer Mike for then saying he encouraged his kids not to participate in the walkouts.

"I love you, if you walk out that school, walk out my house…" he said. "We are a gun owning family, we are a family where my sister farms, we are a family where we'll fish, we'll hunt, but we are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just don't agree with."

But Killer Mike has since responded and said he was joking. He claimed he told his son to not walk out because he is "failing math."

On Sunday, the rapper posted two videos saying the interview was done a week prior to the March for Our Lives and that he did an interview with the NRA to discuss topics with people he doesn't always agree with.

"That interview was used a week later by NRATV to disparage a very noble campaign that I actually support," he said. He later added, "First I'm sorry guys, I'm sorry that an interview I did about a minority, black people in this country, and gun rights was used as a weapon against you guys…"
