New details surrounding the death of late model Kim Porter have been revealed.
Before Porter's death in November 2018, it was reported she was suffering from flu-like symptoms. She was found unresponsive in her bed on November 15 and reportedly had a fever of 102 degrees.
It was suspected she had pneumonia, but no one was sure at the time of her passing. According to NBC News, a medical examiner confirmed Friday she died from pneumonia.
"It was later determined Porter died from lobar pneumonia," a statement by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner said. "The manner of death was certified as natural."
The 47-year-old model was in a long-term relationship with rap music producer and business mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. She had three children with him. After their relationship ended in 2007, the two reportedly had an effective co-parenting relationship.
Around the time the news broke of her death, there were no reports of foul play or substance abuse. "There was no known history of drug abuse or alcoholism and no signs of trauma," the coroner reported.
CNN reported Porter was improving a day before the illness claimed her life. Her temperature reportedly fell to 96 degrees, and she had family time that night. However, around 8:30 a.m. November 15, her goddaughter came into her room to discover she was sleeping a little too late. She reentered at 11:30 a.m. and found Porter was unresponsive.
Reports were stating the 47-year-old took a trip to Africa, but that has yet to be linked to her death.
"She did not have any health complaints at the time she returned from her trip," according to the report.
