Randall Sullivan’s LAbyrinth, which exposes reaers to the real-life events that surrounded LAPD detective Russell Poole’s investigation into a notorious LA bank robbery, has been optioned for a big screen adaptation by British production company Good Films.
I mention this here because detective Poole's late 1990s investigation uncovered evidence that revealed a wider conspiracy, including the discovery of a network several LAPD officers who were on the payroll of the now-infamous Death Row Records, and further, the unsolved murders of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
LAbyrinth will offer…
… an insider's look into the real-life world of renegade cops, rival gangs, racial tensions and hip-hop celebrities, and unveils the political nightmare surrounding the still-unsolved murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
Producers are calling it intelligent, original, grown-up cinema with integrity, adding to a slate of film projects budgeted between $10 and $52 million.
No word yet on when production is expected to begin, or when we can expect to see the film.
