With a bright personality and eagerness for life, there is nothing that can stop Christopher Ward, Jr. Despite an illness resulting in his vision loss as a toddler, the 12-year-old from Virginia uses a braille reader and writer to communicate. With the help of advanced vision technology, Christoper can see. eSight manufactures a hands-free headset equipped with a camera capturing live video, which is then transmitted to an LED screen for the user to see. Christopher recently tested out the gadget and the reaction was priceless, especially seeing his mom, Marquita for practically the first time.
Marquita Hackley told ABC News Today, “And then to hear him say, ‘I saw my mom, and she was very pretty,’ was so heartwarming. And aside from pretty, just the fact he could even see me meant the whole world to me.”
