Lenny Kravitz will star alongside Christopher Walken in writer/director Dan Algrant’s drama Little Rootie Tootie.
Likely named after Thelonious Monk’s piano solo of the same name, the film will follow a family of working musicians, led by manic patriarch (and widower) Walken, a veteran jazz pianist, who’s visited by his son, played by Kravitz (himself a musician, who’s also married to a musician, who accompanies him on the trip home), as the eccentric trio deal with various internal matters that shake up the entire unit, even while they continue to put up a front, presenting themselves as a normal family.
Principal photography on the project which will be shopped at the American Film Market (AFM) next week, is set to begin in January in New York City.
River Bend Pictures, A to Z and Dalifey Ltd. are all producing the film, with Bonnie Timmermann and Steven Ray executive producing.
And, by the way, jazzman, and Spike Lee’s favorite composer, Terence Blanchard, will be scoring and creating original music for the film.
