Update (Oct. 27, 2021): Lil Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, is defending his son after the rapper was subjected to a homophobic rant from Boosie on Saturday. Responding to Boosie, who suggested that Lil Nas X should commit suicide, Stafford called out the disgraced musician for hypocrisy.

“How the hell you’re a gangsta rapper promoting drugs, gun violence, degrading women and getting high every video talking about you’re for the kids man sit your old man looking ass down,” Stafford wrote on his Instagram story, according to The Source. “The game has past you. We real Bankhead over here. Not like the guy who claims it.”

Boosie still refuses to feel any remorse for his hateful words.

“Don’t get mad at me cause your son came out like that. I know it hurts,” he wrote on Twitter.

In a 2020 interview with Variety, Lil Nas X said his father was one of his harshest critics when he first came out. But the father appears to now have a better understanding.    

“We have become closer,” the rapper said. “I mean, especially now because I don’t have anything to hide. It was a shock for him. It’s still the beginning phase. I’m not comfortable bringing a guy around yet.”

Original (Oct. 25, 2021): Boosie shamelessly touted homophobic rhetoric while responding to a message from Lil Nas X on Saturday. The disgraceful musician went on a hateful tirade after Lil Nas X claimed to be working on a collaboration with Boosie. 

"So, I been working on this song with Lil Boosie, bro," the 22-year-old singer said, clearly trolling his fellow rapper, on Instagram Live. "I got this song with Lil Boosie finna come out. Fire, I ain't even gon' lie, for real. Song with Boosie finna come out."

Boosie, apparently overtly bothered by the statement, responded with dangerous, bigoted rhetoric, XXL reports.  

"STOP TROLLING ME F****T LOL," he wrote. "U A WHOLE B***H PLAYING WITH A GANGSTA SMH U CAN KEEP SUCKING D**K N GETTIN F**KED N YOUR ASS N PEACE N #uhateyourself I WOULD TOO IF I WAS YOU LOL NASx IF YOU #commitsuicide YOU WOULD DO THIS WORLD A HUGE FAVOR. NOBODY WANTS U HERE."

Lil Nas X didn't seem to give much attention to the insult.

"I am truly saddened," he wrote. "I have never been so mortified in my life. I can’t believe Disney channel has yet to play Halloween town this entire October."

Boosie's homophobic rant doesn't come as a surprise for music fans. In July, the rapper expressed similar views while defending DaBaby, who made hateful comments about the LGBTQ+ community during the 2021 Rolling Loud Miami Festival. 

"If I was DaBaby, I'll tell them f**k y'all," he said in an Instagram Live video. "Lucky I couldn't be DaBaby, I'll tell them f**k y'all b***hes. ’Cause he [DaBaby] said something about some s**t."

During an interview with The Breakfast Club in September, Lil Nas X said he is not bothered by Boosie.

"I was listening to Boosie in the club the other day. I don't really care. Honestly, I wish they didn't say it, I guess," he said. "But I like the music, I'm gonna listen to the music. If somebody got beef with me, that doesn't mean I got beef with them." 

According to Billboard, the "Old Town Road" singer also addressed the dangers of hate speech in September when he was honored by The Trevor Project, an organization which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention resources for LGBTQ+ youth.

"Discrimination around sexuality and gender identity is still very real, and our community deserves to feel supported and totally free to be themselves," he said. "I often get messages from fans telling me about their struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts, and it made me realize that this was something bigger than myself. If using my voice and expressing myself in my music can help even one kid out there who feels alone, then it was all worth it."
