Flutist and singer Lizzo felt the wrath of Twitter after expressing she's irritated by people who don't consider her a rapper like Swae Lee and Future.

After publishing a tweet on August 10, the "Truth Hurts" artist was instantly met with backlash for invoking the two rappers' names. She revealed her frustrations about being left out of the rap conversation. As the now-deleted tweet implies, Lizzo considers herself to be a rapper, but music experts and critics are not so sure.

"Sometimes I get pissed that there are people who call future & swae lee rappers and still question whether or not I belong in the rap conversation…," she wrote. "But then I remember I have the #4 song in the country, laugh, go back to my dream job and log off."

Billboard points out the changing rap music landscape has incorporated more melodies and sing-song lyrics. Lizzo's tweet was an attempt to figure out if she fits into the new, evolving rap scene.

Some saw the tweet as a slight against the two while others questioned why she mentioned them at all to make her point.

The backlash was swift, prompting the 31-year-old artist to delete the tweet. Lizzo also published a few subsequent tweets responding to critics. In one, she wrote, "I forgot that the internet is not the place for my emotions anymore. I love everybody goodnight."

To clarify her statements, she went a step further and expressed her love for Swae Lee and Future. Lizzo promoted their recent hit singles "Sunflower" and "The Wizrd" in an effort to smooth things over.

Prior to the recent "controversy," Lizzo was last seen hanging out with Meg Thee Stallion, playing her flute and driving the boat. Her latest single, "Truth Hurts," currently sits in the top 10 on the Billboard Charts.
