Rebecca Ikumelo, a 33-year-old mother from London, died on Saturday after being crushed during Afrobeats singer Asake’s concert. Police and emergency personnel rushed to the popular venue, London’s Brixton O2 Academy, on Friday night after getting reports about a number of people who had been injured due to a large crowd trying to enter the concert without tickets, People reports.

Cellphone video shows several people screaming and pushing toward the front of the venue while demanding for the doors to be opened. According to police, eight people were taken to the hospital after being injured during the chaos. Four were reported to be in critical condition on Friday.

Ikumelo, who was a nursing graduate, died in the hospital on Saturday morning, BBC reports. Asake said he spoke with Ikumelo’s family and he’s devastated by the tragedy.

“I am overwhelmed with grief and could never have imagined anything like this happening,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram. “My team and I are still awaiting the full debrief back from the venue management and the police to determine what exactly led to all the disruption caused and ultimately [led] to Rebecca’s passing. If you have any relevant information, please do reach out to the Metropolitan Police.”

The grieving family remembers their loved one as an “adorable mother of two children who loved working with kids.”

“She was well respected in the family for her care, kindness and love,” the family said in a statement. “Her parents call her Tosin (short for Oluwatosin) meaning ‘Lord is Worthy.'”

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove said the investigation will continue for as long as necessary.

“We are determined, along with our partners, to do everything we can to establish exactly what happened on Thursday night,” the chief said according to People.

Asake stopped his show 10 minutes into the set. The artist shared a statement on Instagram shortly after the chaotic scene unfolded.  Asake said his “heart is with those who were injured last night and caused any form of discomfort.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan also expressed his condolences in a Tweet.

“Rebecca had her whole life ahead of her and on behalf of all Londoners, I would like to extend my condolences to her family and loved ones,” he wrote. “My thoughts remain with everyone affected by this dreadful incident. It’s vital that the investigation into what happened concludes as soon as possible. City Hall are in contact with venues and authorities across London to ensure nothing like this happens again.”
