Authorities are searching for the gunman responsible for killing a 7-year-old girl in a Houston-area Walmart over the weekend.

LaPorsha Washington, 30, told ABC News 7 her 7-year-old daughter, Jazmine Barnes, was shot in the head by a white man on Sunday morning in a seemingly planned attack. Around 7 a.m. that morning, Washington and her four daughters were heading to Joe V's grocery store to get coffee prior to the shooting when they were targeted by gunfire.

"As I turned around and looked back at the street, I heard shots start firing and they came through my window, broke my glass, and hit me in my arm," Washington told ABC News 13.

"They sped off in front of us and the truck slowed down and continued to fire as he was in front of us. It was not fair. It was not fair," the grieving mother continued. "He intentionally killed my child for no reason. He didn't even know her, he didn't know who she was."

ABC News reports the family passed the Walmart just a few moments before the suspect, who drove a red pickup truck without a license plate, pulled up aside them. Without any known motivation, the man opened fire wounding Washington and killing Jazmine.

Washington left the scene after the shooting only to discover her child was fatally shot. One of her daughters told her Jazmine was unresponsive.

"She said, 'Momma, Jazmine's not moving. She's not talking.' I turned around and my 7-year-old was shot in the head."

Washington sustained a gunshot wound to her arm and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for treatment.

The suspect, only identified as a white 40-something middle-aged man with a beard, sped off in the vehicle. Jesse Razo, a major with the Harris County sheriff's office, told media that investigators are looking into surveillance footage from cameras in the area to help identify the suspect.

"We're going to use all resources available to bring this killer to justice," Razo told reporters at the scene. "And I urge you, whoever did this, you know who you are. Please turn yourself in now — because we will be looking for you, we will locate you, we will find you."

A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect. Activist Shaun King is offering a $35,000 reward for any person with information about the man.
