Mary J. Blige is no doubt a legend. She often feels like our "Auntie Mary" because most of us have grown up listening to her. Despite the issues she faced in 2017 with her estranged husband, she's dancing right past the hateration & holleration and starting this year with a bang.
According to Variety, Blige will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the recording category. The ceremony will take place on Jan. 11 at 6201 Hollywood Blvd. in front of Eastown. Mary's longtime friend and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs will join Hollywood Chamber president and CEO Leron Gubler with the unveiling of the star.
“Mary J. Blige is one of the most popular singers of our generation," producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, told Variety. "Fans will be thrilled to see her star on the Boulevard as her career milestones are celebrated on this very famous sidewalk.”
While this is a well-deserved honor, it's only the beginning of the accolades that are possibly in store for Blige this year. In addition, she has received Golden Globe Award, SAG Award, and Critics’ Choice Award nominations for her role in in the movie “Mudbound.” She also received a second Golden Globe nom for best original song for “Mighty River.”
