Everyone is looking to get rich quick, but as the saying goes, “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.” TikTok’s latest scheme involves the Metaverse, virtual stripping and NFT promoters. If the thought of all that is blowing your mind, just keep reading.

According to The Daily Dot, young men on TikTok are being told that they can make some serious dough by posing as female strippers in the Metaverse. However, things aren’t quite working out the way they’d planned.

More and more videos are popping up on TikTok, showing guys with luxury sports cars and loads of cash. The TikTokers claim they earned the funds through virtual pole dancing in the Metaverse.

One video posted by the TikTok account @holynft garnered more than 5.6 million views in just a few days.

“This is your sign to fake being a girl and start stripping in the Metaverse,” they wrote in the caption. “You need to be on this wave.”

To say viewers were intrigued about the side hustle would be an understatement. They filled the comments, asking for more information.

“Please I want to join I would deadass do this,” one user wrote.

“It’s giving Black Mirror (but fr where do I sign up),” another added.

One viewer expressed that they’re ready to give Metaverse stripping a try.

“If I see one more of these ima actually do it,” they wrote.

But not everyone believed the hype. To combat the skepticism (and likely to maintain the ruse), @holynft said that the only way user can learn how to make big bucks stripping in the Metaverse is to join their Discord server.

Just like on TikTok, viewers on Discord were extremely interested in the virtual hustle and were ready to give it a try. One user even shared that they spent hundreds of dollars on equipment to start their career as an online sex worker.

That money was probably not well spent, however. Several moderators pointed users to another channel that provided an introduction to NFTs. After users learned about the tokens on the channel, they were informed about the Discord server’s NFT project called Holy Nephalem — eerily similar to @holynft.

As users began to complain, moderators finally revealed that the @holynft TikTok video was a publicity stunt to draw users to their Discord. However, they added that making money on the Metaverse is a real thing, but they’re not helping users do so by becoming virtual strippers.

It was later revealed the footage shared in @holynft’s viral clip isn’t from the Metaverse, but rather a video game called VRChat.

@holynft’s alleged TikTok account isn’t the only one telling users that they can make thousands of dollars. There are other social media users claiming that they can make money by virtually stripping in the Metaverse. Many of those accounts highlight money-making hacks and questionable side hustles. Is it possible to create a virtual strip club and become a stripper in the Metaverse? Absolutely. Like a real-word strip club, patrons can tip VR dancers in the Metaverse, request a lap dance, and even additional sexual favors, but according to a current VR Dancer, the tips are definitely not near a living wage.
