A Michigan police department recently decided putting “Po Po” on the side of its squad vehicles would help them relate to young people.

The Bath Township Police Department posted a doctored photo of one of its SUVs on Facebook with a caption about using social media to relate to the youth.

“So as some of you may have noticed, our page has been pretty helpful in connecting us with our community,” it read. “We've found though, that we are still struggling to really reach the younger folk out there. So in an effort to bridge that gap, we've decided to update our patrol car graphics in an attempt to be more relatable to the local youths.”

The picture received mixed reactions from commenters.

Some were not amused.

“It's not funny nor cute, it's offensive,” wrote Jeremiah Edwards.

Others thought it was hilarious.

“THIS … IS … DOPE!!!” wrote Will Holley.

“This is hilarious. Glad the police officers in whatever town this is have a sense of humor,” said Trisha Ann Johnson.

A few had different suggestions.

“If you really want to connect with youth write PIG,” advised David Ziegenbusch.

“It really should say "C.O.P" along with what the abbreviation stands for (Control Obsessed Pussies),” quipped Eric Luchinski.

In multiple comments responding to the upset, the department reiterated that the photo was a joke, and they have no plans to alter its squad cars.
