Model Emily Ratajkowski is accusing Robin Thicke of sexually assaulting her while working together for the "Blurred Lines" music video in 2013, reports The Sunday Times. In her upcoming book, My Body, which is scheduled to be released on Nov. 9, she said the singer groped her bare breasts.
"Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger's hands cupping my bare breasts from behind," she wrote, per The Sunday Times. "I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke."
"He smiled a goofy grin and stumbled backward, his eyes concealed behind his sunglasses. My head turned to the darkness beyond the set," she. continued. "I pushed my chin forward and shrugged, avoiding eye contact, feeling the heat of humiliation pump through my body. I didn't react — not really, not like I should have."
Ratajkowski was one of three models featured in the video alongside Pharrell and T.I. According to Yahoo News, the model went on to share that the director, Diane Martel, checked on her during the incident, asking, "Are you OK?" Martel also spoke with The Sunday Times, confirming the model's written story.
"I remember the moment that he grabbed her breasts," she said. "One in each hand. He was standing behind her as they were both in profile."
Thicke was allegedly drunk at the time, according to the director. She said she closed the shoot following the incident in order to protect Ratajkowski in the moment. The singer also apologized to the model.
"‘What the f**k are you doing, that's it!! The shoot is over!'" Martel recalled telling everyone.
"Robin sheepishly apologized," Martel says. "As if he knew it was wrong without understanding how it might have felt for Emily."
"With that one gesture, Robin Thicke had reminded everyone on set that we women weren't actually in charge. I didn't have any real power as the naked girl dancing around in his music video. I was nothing more than the hired mannequin," Ratajkowski wrote of the situation.
This is the first time Ratajkowski has publicly come forward with her story. She wrote that she forgot about the incident, not thinking about it until years later when she saw that the singer blocked her on Instagram. Thicke hasn't publicly responded to the allegations as of yet.
Ratajkowski's book will be comprised of essays focusing on different points in the model's life. It also looks to examine and define the ideas of "feminism, sexuality, and power, of men's treatment of women and women's rationalizations for accepting that treatment," according to the publisher's description.
