The Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation announced its $2 million commitment to fund scholarships for Black, African, and African American students. Students at Morehouse College, Spelman College, and ten other historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) will receive a total of $2 million over five years.
The HBCUs will be chosen through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) based on enrollment rate, unmet funding needs, proximity to Ralph Lauren Corporation's U.S. operation center, and disciplines supporting the retail industry. The foundation will also encourage community service participation through the scholarship program.
"This new scholarship will allow high-achieving students in need of financial support to graduate with less debt, ready to step into their careers," Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., President of Spelman College, said. "We're extremely proud to join forces with the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation in its effort to increase equity and access in the fashion industry."

By offering scholarships to HBCUs, Ralph Lauren Corporation continues to build on its commitment to fighting systemic racism and racial injustice by creating more pathways for equity within the fashion industry and beyond.

Last month, Ralph Lauren's Black Advisory Council members created a symbol of unity with the African, African American, and Black communities—the Ralph Lauren Pin of Solidarity. The pin's purpose is to start meaningful discussions among their design teams and consumers to serve as a "gateway for conversation, connection, and understanding." All proceeds from the sales are dedicated to UNCF Ralph Lauren Scholarship programs.
