House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) was excited to sign President Trump's articles of impeachment, and she was not afraid to show her enthusiasm.

Pelosi used a black pen engraved with her signature in gold to sign two articles of impeachment against the president, reports IJR. More pens were seen set out on several gold platters and are being referred to as "souvenir" pens.

Pelosi was said to have entered the room where the signing occurred and sat down. Aides already placed over two dozen pens on the platters. She signed the articles then handed the documents over to additional lawmakers for their signatures. At times she was seen smiling, according to AP News.

On December 18, 2019, the House of Representatives voted to impeach the 45th President, Donald Trump, making him the third president in United States history to be impeached, as Blavity previously reported.

Though decorative pens are used all the time to sign legislation in Washington, Pelosi is being hemmed up for using the gesture during what some are considering an unfortunate occurrence.

"It was unusual to see that kind of ceremony and making, you know handing out the pens, smiling for a picture in this kind of situation, where the House Speaker has bent over backwards to say publicly and privately, ‘This is somber. This is not a time for celebration," stated CNN's Dana Bash.

Conservatives were not here for Pelosi's actions either.

"Nancy Pelosi’s souvenir pens served up on silver platters to sign the sham articles of impeachment," tweeted White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham.

"Obstruction of Congress: The Speaker holding the articles for 4 wks before sending them to the Senate. Abuse of Power: The House refusing to give the President due process. Anyone notice the Democrats always accuse POTUS of actions they, themselves are guilty of doing?!" Grisham iterated in a separate Tweet.

The impeachment case will now be turned over to Senate. Trials are due to begin next week.
