Every Valentine’s Day, whether you’re madly in love or single, it always great to see the love birds go above and beyond for their significant other. All love in its many shapes and forms is beautiful but it’s something about witnessing black love that makes you feel all warm inside.

On Valentine’s Day, activists and media influencers Michaela Angela Davis and Dabo Ché launched a revolutionary campaign titled “Black Love Power,” a digital platform dedicated to showcasing uplifting and powerful images of black people engaging in acts of love instead of the usual tragedies and negative images that tend to pop up in search browsers. According to Huffington Post, The photos, which are all taken by a talented network of 50 black photographers, seek to show a broad range of black people and the many ways they express affection. These images can be found on their official website and Instagram account.

“Black is big, generous and mystical. Love is the most transformative energy there is. Power is what all people want. So Black Love Power, for me, is a reinforcement of, who we are, what we’re made of and what we have,” Michaela Angela Davis told The Huffington Post in an exclusive interview. “In this political climate and always, it is a radical act, an act of resistance even, for Black folks to love each other boldly, out in the open-repetitiously.”

Dabo Ché chimed in and added that the platform aims to “make us less reactionary to how other people treat us and move proactive about how we treat each other and focus on how we want to build a sustainable future.” The 'Black Love Power' is more than photography but a movement to change the way we experience, receive and perceive love as a whole. When you scroll through their Instagram account, you’ll also see pictures of public figures such as Beyoncé & Jay Z, Barack and Michelle Obama, Solange and Alan Ferguson, Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert, to name a few. Davis states that it’s “critical to have a broad range of images that express and illustrate our generous humanity” and they’re here to make it easier for all to see and learn from.

Overall, the dynamic duo hopes to keep this collection going strong and hopes that it uplifts, empowers and heals all those viewing the beautiful imagery.

“Black Love is a SUPER Power, we need to simply activate [it],” Davis states proudly.
