Atlanta veteran Big Boi, of the dynamic duo Outkast, has recently dropped some heat that can't be missed. The Atlanta native has teamed up with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to create a tech-disco vibe track, "Mic Jack". Big Boi laces his legendary flow across the dance track while Adam croons over the chorus. Don't get too lost in the beat, Big Boi comes for your temple with the lyrics –
ATLiens, they on top of ya human beings
From the mothership, I'm on some other shit
Lowkey like the blow soul back in '86
But we don't sell dope, we pimp ink pens
To provoke the folks and keep 'em thinkin'
What is you drinkin', or better yet
Do you really know the meaning of life or are you sleeping
Then with an immediate follow-up, Big Boi, Killer Mike, and Jeezy jumped on a track together reminding us why "old" Atlanta is forever timeless. Don't let the terms "veteran" and "old" be misconstrued to reflect an era, but instead to define the standard and blueprint created. With a disruptive beat and sample vocals by Miku, a humanoid vocal synthesizer, the song comes out the gate swinging. As the blaze of new-age Atlanta Hip-Hop artists continues to fire up the genre with quality and popularity, it's always necessary to see the bricklayers show why they are the foundation.
Both tracks are from his upcoming release Boomiverse, his first solo project since 2012.
So what do you think of the new music? Which do you like better?
