An autopsy of Jeffrey Epstein showed he suffered multiple breaks in his neck bones, according to what two people familiar with the findings told the Washington Post. One of the breaks occurred in the hyoid bone, which, in men, is located near their Adam's apple. This type of break can happen when older men hang themselves, according to experts on the subject.

The break is also commonly connected to strangulations, with NBC News Medical Correspondent John Torres saying the injury happens in about a third of strangulations and a quarter of hangings.

“If, hypothetically, the hyoid bone is broken, that would generally raise questions about strangulation, but it is not definitive and does not exclude suicidal hanging,” Jonathan L. Arden, president of the National Association of Medical Examiners, said to the Washington Post.

Still, the autopsy injuries are raising questions and conspiracies regarding Epstein's death, which many have attributed to his alleged powerful connections around the child sex trafficking case that landed him in prison in the first place.

Flight logs from Epstein's plane showed that former President Bill Clinton had been on his plane at least two dozen times. While current President Donald Trump was a friend of Epstein and was quoted in 2002 saying, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

Conspiracies of Clinton's and Trump's connection to Epstein's death flooded social media the day his death was announced. Trump added fuel to this by retweeting a conspiracy blaming the Clintons for the death of Epstein. from conservative commentator Terrence K. Williams.

Attorney General William Barr previously came out and stated that the investigation of Epstein's sex trafficking case will continue despite his death.

"We are now learning of serious irregularities at this facility that are deeply concerning and demand a thorough investigation,” Barr said Tuesday, according to NBC. "This sex trafficking case was very important to DOJ and me personally. FBI and office of DOJ IG will get to the bottom of what happened and there will be accountability.”

Earlier this week, the warden of the Manhattan jail Epstein died in was temporarily reassigned, and the two guards tasked with watching Epstein have been placed on leave, NBC reported. An investigation is currently underway to find if officers falsified records stating that checks on Epstein occurred as scheduled.
