The third most eventful day in the NFL after the Superbowl and Draft day of course, is Black Monday. What is Black Monday? Well it’s when NFL fans around the country wait to see who will get the boot. Those teams that are moving on to the playoffs are pretty safe, pending playoff performance. But for those who didn’t quite make the cut? Well it may be time for their general managers and coaches to hold a prayer meeting. No one likes to lose but when we do, we have to blame someone for that loss. Kinda like blaming Tony Romo’s injury for the fact that Cowboys looked more like the Cowgirls versus the Washington Redskins yesterday. Had he played there might have been a little hope. Doubt it slippery fingers.

Who Got Fired

Chip Kelly, Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles

Mike Pettine, Head Coach of the Cleveland Browns

Ray Farmer, General Manager of the Cleveland Browns

Jim Tomsula, Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers

Tom Coughlin, Head Coach of the New York Giants (some say he resigned)

Who Isn’t Fired but Should Consider Their Options

Jim Caldwell, Head Coach of the Detroit Lions

Caldwell ended the season as 3rd in the NFC North but 3rd place just isn’t good enough. The powers that be are not too pleased with coach Jim Caldwell and requested an interview with Assistant Director of Player Personnel, Will McClay. McClay in so many words politely said: no thanks, I’m good.

Mike Mularkey, Interim Head Coach of the Tennessee Titans

Mularkey is not a fan favorite. Despite parting ways with their general manager Ruston Webster, Mularkey still remains a candidate for the permanent position. Maybe angry Titans’ moms will write a letter in anger about that versus Cam and his dance moves. Dab on that!

Coach You Should be Watching Closely

Sean Payton, Head Coach of the New Orleans Saints

Like relationships sometimes you just outgrow people. From the loud whispers coming from Who Dat Nation, it seems as though coach Sean Payton wants a divorce. He has openly expressed that he is interested in other options. The Saints might not be a bitter ex though. They may be willing to part ways with him in exchange for a second round draft pick. Like I tell all of my friends when they consider dumping someone, make a list of the pros and the cons then make your decision. Make that list fellas and work it out.

Black Monday is a pretty big deal. Celebrities like Vivica A. Fox even commented on yesterday’s activities.

Although Black Monday is officially over, there are sure to be more fires and hires for teams across the board. With the playoffs quickly approaching there will be more days like this to follow.
