The 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced, and there's some black girl magic on the list!

According to NPR, Nina Simone and guitar pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe are among the inductees! They’ll be joining Bon Jovi, The Moody Blues, The Cars and Dire Straits.

The group was chosen from 19 nominees and decided by 900 members of the music industry, as well as fan votes. Artists are eligible for nomination 25 years after their first commercial recording release.

According to the New York Times, both Simone and Tharpe were first time nominees and will, of course, be honored posthumously. Tharpe will be receiving an Award for Early Influence.

Simone, who died in 2003, was an iconic singer, pianist, songwriter and also known for her work during the Civil Rights movement, which included the release of protest songs like "Mississippi, Goddam." Her debut album, Little Girl Blue, was released in 1958.

Tharpe released her debut album, The Lonesome Road, in 1941, but was moving audiences long before that, having started playing guitar in church at the age of six. The singer, songwriter and guitarist had blues and folk hybrid sound that made her the first gospel star to crossover to R&B and rock audiences. She is also credited with influencing many of the artists popular with these audiences, everyone from Little Richard to Johnny Cash. Her early use of distortion with electric guitars especially has led to her being called “the Godmother of rock and roll.”

The 33rd Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on April 14, 2018 at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland.
