R&B sensation Normani and Cardi B teamed up for the former's new song "Wild Side" and we simply were not prepared.
The new track debuted on Friday and was accompanied by a flaming hot music video that features choreography by Sean Bankhead, who worked with Normani on her MTV VMAs performance of “Motivation.” Bursting with color and artful visuals, the video was directed by Tanu Muino, who curated Cardi B’s “Up” video per People.
After Normani made a surprise cameo appearance in Cardi B’s smash “WAP,” Cardi returned the favor on “Wild Side."
Sampling Aaliyah’s 1996 classic “One in a Million,” “Wild Side” is a showcase of Normani’s soulful vocals, her otherworldly dancing ability and is brimming with raw sexual energy.
As the title of the song suggests, Normani is not afraid to show that she can get wild.
“Take me for a ride, boy/Show me your wild side, boy/Know it’s been a while, boy/I wanna get wild,” Normani sings.
As expected, Cardi slays everything moving and has no problem expressing her sexual appetite on the seductive track.
"It's my d**k and I want it now/Tell me how you want/Put me on my back and my stomach," Cardi B raps. "Baby, let me blow it like a trumpet/I could do it all/I could probably suck a watermelon through a straw/Believe me."
The organic chemistry between Normani and Cardi B is undeniable and their collaboration was born out of genuine respect they have for each other’s artistry.
"I had already been in rehearsal for about three weeks preparing for the video when Cardi heard the record for the first time," Normani’s press release read.
“She really showed up for me and brought this record to life by simply doing what Cardi does best. I love that woman down and I'm forever grateful."
