If you needed a reminder, this is Normani’s year.
The “Motivation” singer will appear in this year’s holiday campaign as Savage X Fenty’s first-ever brand ambassador. The announcement was made on Instagram with Normani sporting red lingerie from the fashion brand’s catalog.
“I want all individuals to feel empowered and to embrace who they truly are,” Normani said. “I don’t always wake up feeling the most confident and powerful, but trust and believe having my Savage X on always helps!!"
She also tagged Rihanna, the brand's founder, and wrote “I love you.”
In an interview with Vogue, Normani said she was asked to become a brand ambassador by Rihanna herself.
“I know that this is her passion project, something she genuinely and wholeheartedly believes in and cares about, and the fact that she wanted me to be a part of that meant a lot to me,” Normani said. “She is somebody I’ve looked up to for a very, very long time. She’s had so much influence on me in terms of pop culture and as a woman, but also in terms of how she’s able to do things gracefully while being cutting edge, being bold, pushing the needle, and changing the narrative.”
Billboard reports that Rihanna tweeted congratulations to the singer.
“Welcome to the family sis! Honored to have you!!” she wrote.

Normani has made other connections to Rihanna this year, Vogue notes. She was one of the standouts at the Savage X Fenty runway show in September, according to Harper’s Bazaar. It was the first time she performed in lingerie.
The former member of Fifth Harmony also told Vogue that she’s looking forward to working for a company that embraces the beauty in all shapes and sizes, describing herself as a “heavy-chested girl.”
“Rih does a really amazing job of making it universal and having something in the collection for everybody, even down to the way the bra cuts you,” Normani said. “I have a hard time, like I said, walking into any store and finding something that I feel comfortable in, but also sexy in, and something that I can also wear all day. I feel like she has done that with Savage X, for sure.”
The new brand ambassador said she’s also looking forward to 2020 because of her upcoming album.
“I’m really excited for my fans to hear it because they’ve been very patient with me and they’ve been there since the beginning of my journey—and my new fans too. I’ve been using these new sessions as therapy and as an opportunity for me to know myself in a different way. I can’t wait for everybody else to be able to tap into that and get to know the real me,” Normani said.
