Here is one of the more interesting and worthwhile
IndieGoGo funding campaigns to come our
way lately. It’s for the concert film/documentary, Of Dreams To Come: Robert Glasper, which is about the acclaimed jazz pianist and the winner
for this year’s Grammy Award for the Best
R&B Album of the Year, Robert Glasper and his band, The Robert Glasper Experiment.
According to director J. Kevin Swain, who has
spent more than a decade producing music videos and directing documentaries and
TV movies, including Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America for VH1, says the film “will echo the early tour films of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Look
Back”. U2’s “Rattle and Hun” and Patti Smith’s “Dream of
Life.“
And the film will contain footage and performances which
Swain and his crews have been filming in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa
and the United States.during the past several months.
Swain says that his goal is to document “Robert Glasper’s music and artistry which is appreciated from the four corners of the
globe, it is an important endeavor to chronicle this moment in history and will
also will showcase Robert as a musician, father, bandleader and friend.”
The film is schedule for a first quarter release in 2014
and is currently being funded through an IndieGoGo campaign.
