Former legendary running back O.J. Simpson has joined Twitter, nearly two years after being released from prison in 2017.

In an impromptu video released Saturday, the controversial figure told fans, critics and supporters he had some scores to settle. The video posted on the @TheRealOJ32 account piqued the interest of Twitter users from every corner of the app.

“Coming soon to Twitter you’ll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything,” he said in his Twitter address.

As The New York Post pointed out, it is not clear if the video is real or a deepfake similar to the most recent featuring House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi. The Juice continued pushing back against the slew of "fake" accounts made in his name. He assured Twitter there was only one real account: @TheRealOJ32.

“Now there’s a lot of fake OJ accounts out there, so this one, @TheRealOJ32, is the only official one,” he said while smiling. “This’ll be a lot of fun. I’ve got a lot of getting even to do.”

Within 24 hours, the Twitter profile received close to 171,000 followers. The only tweet connected to the mysterious account racked up approximately 14,500 retweets and 45,000 faves.

Although the video was short and sweet, the Juice's last comment lingered in the minds of critics. What did he mean by "get even?"

Users could not help themselves but mention the 1995 murder case of O.J.'s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. The former footballer was acquitted of the 1994 slashings in October of 1995. Over the next few decades, with his reputation in tatters, the famed athlete would turn to petty crime.

In the time between his 2017 release and now, Simpson spoke out against Colin Kaepernick and the Take the Knee movement. Other than his statements regarding Kaep, he has remained relatively quiet until the recent release of the Twitter video.
