Pharrell and Louis XIII Cognac premiered a new special song in Shanghai to combat global warming.

According to Ad Age, the track titled  “100 Years – The Song We’ll Only Hear If We Care" was played for an intimate group of 100 people during a one-time-only private listening party. The track was recorded on a clay disk before being stored in a state-of-the-art safe that can only be destroyed if submerged in water. The plan is to release the song in full in 2117.

“I love the fact that Louis XIII thinks a century ahead,” Pharrell said in a statement. “We should all do the same for the planet. We have a common interest in preserving nature for the future. Each bottle is the life achievement of generations of men and women. It’s all about legacy and transmission.”

The only way the song in its entirety will be heard is if rising sea levels as a result of global warming do not lead to its destruction first. Scientists have projected that in 100 years a significant portion of the world’s land will be under water. If this happens, the clay record will meet an unfortunate fate and dissolve under water, meaning that no one will get the chance to ever hear it.

This is actually a great way to keep us accountable and hopefully motivate a few people to make a change in how they treat the earth. However, many of us probably won't be around to hear it. Hopefully, our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have that chance instead. If Pharrell made it, we already know its a bop.
