Pier Kids: The Life examines the legacy of Stonewall and the Gay Rights Movement it ignited by following the lives of three gay and transgender youth of color who, after being pushed out of their home because of their sexuality, have become homeless on the same street the riots took place more than forty years ago.

Photographer and filmmaker Elegance Bratton raised over $40,000 on Kickstarter to fund the film last fall and anticipates releasing it in 2015.

Bratton says of the film, I aim to show the community what it means to still be, even in light of the recent progress of gay rights, treated unjustly and unequally on the very street where the Gay Rights Movement began more than forty years ago. On the other hand, I hope to guide current and future LGBTQ youth of color toward a path of better understanding and better living.”
