Firelight Media (the production company belonging to award-winning producer/director/writer Stanley Nelson, who won 3 Emmys last year for his documentary Freedom Riders) has stepped up to offer their support for those affected by Superstorm Sandy by donating all of the sales from Nelson's 2005 film, Sweet Honey in the Rock: Raise Your Voice to local organizations in Newark, NJ and Red Hook, Brooklyn.

For the month of November, all proceeds of sales from Stanley Nelson’s 2005 film, will go directly to two respected organizations providing relief to local communities hard hit by the storm.

The sales will be evenly split between the Red Hook Initiative, a community-based institution located in the working-class Brooklyn neighborhood, and the Urban League of Essex County, serving Newark, New Jersey.

About the Film:

Sweet Honey In The Rock is a Grammy Award-winning African American female a cappella ensemble with deep musical roots in the sacred music of the black church – spirituals, hymns, gospel – as well as jazz and blues. Five women join their powerful voices, along with hand percussion instruments, to create a blend of lyrics, movement and narrative that relate history, point a finger at injustice, and sing the praises of love.

The cost of the DVD packaged is $26.95.
