I’ve just been informed director kA’RAMUU KUSH just won the screenplay competition at the Harlem International Film Festival currently taking place in New York for his screenplay Die Enormous, a roller-coaster script I was lucky enough to read and thoroughly enjoyed.
Now, New Yorkers have a chance to check it out tomorrow (Sunday/4pm) at the Maysles Institute where it will be read by Jamie Hector (The Wire, Night Catches Us), Curtiss Cook (Five Deep Breaths, The Good Wife), Bianca Laverne Jones (Burned, 12 Steps To Recovery) and Jas Anderson (Brooklyn’s Finest, Law & Order) among others.
Die Enormous is a fast-paced, action script inspired by Assata Shakur, a former Black Panther Party member now living in exile in Cuba.
If you haven’t had a chance to read my interview with kA’RAMUU, you can check it out HERE where he describes the script as…”a modern urban remix of Apocalypse Now inspired by Assata Shakur.”
In addition, his award-winning short film Salvation Road, starring Roger Guenveur Smith and Russell Hornsby, will be screening at 5:00pm today. You can check out the trailer below. For more info on the reading, please go HERE.
