Candiace Dillard has been getting into a lot of heated arguments with her co-stars this season on The Real Housewives of Potomac and one person who is tired of it is her husband, Chris Bassett. During the latest episode, Bassett once again tried to intervene and calm Dillard down amid her verbal war with newcomer Mia Thornton. During the argument, Dillard threw lettuce in Thornton’s direction, promoting Thornton to throw salad back at her. She also continued yelling obscenities at Thornton even after Thornton walked away.
Later at dinner, Dillard and Ashley Darby had words, with Dillard raising her voice several times. Once again, Bassett tried claiming her down and tried to get Dillard to walk away. When she refused, the couple began arguing, which made their co-stars uncomfortable.
Co-stars react to last week's episode
During the RHOP After Show, the cast reflected on the incident.
“He was kind of like trying to keep her in her seat or move her,” Gizelle Bryant explained. “It was just a little too much for me that I was uncomfortable.”
Dixon said Bassett overreacted. “The level to which they were getting into it was unnecessary but I just felt like you could just tell he had a lot to drink. And too much to say,” she said.
Dillard said it was best that she did not walk away with her husband at the moment because she wanted him to calm down before things continued escalating. “I wanted Chris to cool off…I know that like he needed a chance to cool off,” she explained. “And if I went over to him too soon, it was gonna escalate and everybody had been drinking.”
Bryant says she would rather Bassett and Dillard put on a united front and not argue in front of the cast. “I don’t want us to ever get to a place that a husband and wife are treating each other like that in front of the group,” she said. “Like if y’all are going to do that, cool. Just let Gizelle go home…you know I don’t want to see that.”
