nullFunny that I was just talking about how in awe I was of the fact that Vanessa Bell Calloway is 55 years old, which I found unbelievable! She looks a lot younger. Black don’t crack I guess.

The film screened at the Pan African Film Festival last month, and it looks like more of you will get to see it thanks to this pick-up by Rockstone Releasing.

Rockstone Releasing in association with True Vision Media Group to Distribute H. M. Coakley’s Horror Comedy, HOLLA II starring Vanessa Bell Calloway & Kiely Williams

Beverly Hills, CA, March 18, 2013 – Nascent specialty distributor Rockstone Releasing has acquired North American theatrical rights to writer/director H. M. Coakley’s horror/comedy, HOLLA II, it was announced today by Rockstone’s President Camille Irons Coakley.

Coming off its successful run at the 2013 Pan-African Film Festival where it screened to a sold-out audience, Holla II is the sequel to Holla and picks up where the original left off.  It’s several years later and Monica, played by Kiely Williams (“Disney’s Cheetah Girls”, “The House Bunny”) and her mother played by Vanessa Bell Calloway (Showtime’s “Shameless,” “What Love Got to do With It”) has relocated to the south where Monica finds love again.  But on the eve of her wedding at a plantation house rumored to be haunted, death and mayhem finds her once again.  Holla II,“This time, Killing is Addictive.”

Artists and Entrepreneur Monica “Doll Phace” Floyd, who also performs music from her latest album in the film, is financing the release and producing under her True Vision Media Group banner.  “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Camille and H. M. on Holla II,” said Floyd.  “They have great ideas and their infectious enthusiasm for making good, fun, entertainment is simply awesome.”

“We are very excited about our partnership with Monica and True Vision Media Group. She brings a wealth of experience in marketing and grass-roots promotions to the team and we are delighted to have Holla II as our first release together,” said Coakley.  “The movie is a smart, scary, sexy, and very funny urban slasher film that finds a way to be funny without parody or spoof.  It’s a beautifully shot movie that we believe is relevant and will resonate well with our target demo of urban movie-goers and horror fans.”  Coakley adds, “H. M. does an excellent job of creating a sequel that stands on its own while moving the franchise forward.”

Rockstone, in conjunction with Floyd’s True Vision Media Group, will release the film April 19th in select theaters, with a wider release planned for the weeks following.  The film also stars Greg Cipes (“True Blood”), Teairra Mari (“Lottery Ticket”) and Omar Gooding (“The Gospel”).  Holla II is produced by Coakley, Floyd, and Lanre Idewu.
