Ben Affleck had the timeline shook all day yesterday over one man – Deathstroke. The actor has basically taken over Warner Bros. and the DC franchise. And after the critical reception of the past two movies, who can really stop him? Affleck has wins on wins, and the DC Universe might be stacking up that bread, but they aren’t winning any hearts. That’s a problem. Enter Mr. Good Will Hunting as Bruce Wayne and the producer of the next Batman film.
Most of the time, studios are very secretive about upcoming superhero projects. But Affleck is on Twitter talking like it’s just us. The next solo Batman movie is at least a couple years out. We haven’t even gotten through Wonder Woman and Justice League. But not only did he announce a future villain in the next Batman joint, he dropped some footage, too!
Here’s the tweet that launched 1,000 internet fanboy/girl opinions.

In this clip we get a look at Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, running up into frame like a boss. And what makes it even more dope is that Affleck took this video on his phone. My boy just held it up to the monitor and looked around, daring someone to stop him. But for all the fam who isn’t familiar, I got you.
This is Deathstroke.
If he looks like a dirty dude, that’s because he is. We’re talking about a guy who lied about his age at 16 to enlist in the army. My guy is about that life. Slade Wilson (which is his government name) is essentially a killing machine with little to no redeeming qualities. Some of you might already know him from the his appearance on Arrow and his history with Oliver Queen, DC’s other billionaire playboy vigilante.
But he and Bruce Wayne have unfinished business, too.
There are several different storylines where the Dark Knight and Deathstroke the Terminator face off. One involves the Bat’s son Damian Wayne. But most likely the film will be drawing from more recent history. A lot of DC’s material has come from their New 52 run. And Deathstroke had an extra serious fight with Bruce Bruce (featuring Harley Quinn). We’ll have to wait and see how Deathstroke is being used in the new Batman film, but there’s one thing we can expect – it will be epic.
Warner Bros. has not set a date for the first Ben Affleck solo Batman film. And he still dropped the footage, which is why he’s such a boss.
